Dear Grade 9 Families,
I am writing to provide an update regarding the Grade 9 year-end celebration planned for tomorrow, June 10.
Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast and the potential for significant afternoon storms, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Echo Dale celebration. Student safety is always our first priority, and we do not feel comfortable proceeding given the expected conditions.
We explored the possibility of rescheduling the event for June 11 as this was the only alternative date we were able to secure; however, Southland Transportation is unable to accommodate the required bussing on that date. As a result, we are unable to move forward with the original plan.
While we are disappointed that the event cannot proceed as scheduled, we remain committed to providing our Grade 9 students with an opportunity to celebrate the completion of their junior high years together. Over the next few days, Grade 9 teachers will be gathering feedback from students regarding potential alternative field trip activities. We want to ensure that student voice helps guide our decision-making as we determine the best way to recognize this important milestone.
Once we have reviewed student feedback and finalized an alternative plan, we will communicate the details with families as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We appreciate your support as we work to create a meaningful year-end experience for our Grade 9 students.
Sincerely,
