Reporting changes within Edsby
CHHS Families,
Over the next few months, families of students in Grades 7-9 may notice changes and fluctuations in grades displayed in Edsby. Teachers and departments are collaborating as we implement a new percentage-based grading system in junior high, and unpack and teach new curriculum.
During this transition, some assessment results may change from points or proficiency levels to percentages. As teachers adjust how assessments and learning outcomes are recorded, individual results and overall grades may fluctuate. These changes may reflect adjustments to reporting rather than changes in your child’s learning.
There may also be delays in entering assessment results as teachers work together to ensure reporting is accurate and consistent. Edsby may therefore not always reflect the most current picture of your child’s progress.
Our purpose in grading is to accurately reflect student learning by clearly communicating what students understand, what they can do, and where they need further support. We also use assessment information to evaluate and guide our teaching so that instruction responds to students’ learning needs.
We ask for your patience as staff work through these changes. Thank you for your understanding and partnership. If you have questions about a particular result or your child’s progress, please contact their classroom teacher.
